I decided to take the leap and take on copywriting, more importantly, copywriting that connects! I’m so tired of the perfection that makes people feel bad about themselves and their businesses. That is NOT my style. I am allergic to that actually. So my goal in helping other creatives is to ditch the bullshit and to embody themselves in their advertising…because NONE of us are perfect.
(Don’t worry, I didn’t know until about six months ago when I saw an article about it, and was like, “HEY!! That’s what I do!”) I thought copywriting was all about legal crap, also known as copyright. Easy mistake to make, I suppose.
Copywriting is the art of writing in a way that connects, well, that’s the hope anyway. That connection can be via advertising, marketing, captions on social media, in a blog, you name it! If it’s written and you want your clients to read it, that’s copywriting…or “copy.”
I know, you really wish you could get away with just taking nice photos or creating your beautiful art, showing people how to live a healthy lifestyle, or how they can improve their overall wellbeing. And those services are all SO important. Unfortunately, you can only go so far with your thoughts unless you can get them across to your future clients. Did you know that someone has to see your advertising about 7-10 times before they’ll actually start exploring further or buy your product? Yep, that’s true. So while pictures and quotes are great, real copy that connects on a deeper level is SO key to building the “know, like, trust” factor that convinces people to spend their money on your product or service!
This can be on your website, a sales page, a Facebook/Instagram post or advertisement, blogs, educational material, newsletters, you name it. Growing a relationship is really paramount in people investing in YOU as a person, and THEN your product!
THIS is why I blog about my life, divulge my thoughts on social media, and share my life with all of you. This “tactic” isn’t really a tactic! It’s simply a different way of marketing because I hate that salesy shit!! It just doesn’t make me feel good! Sharing about my life does! See my first example of that here!
